For departments, clinics, and hospitals that have undergone POCUS consultation and implementation or already have a POCUS program in place, we offer support for maintaining a quality POCUS program. Tailored to your specific needs, this support may include:
Ongoing Quality Assurance
Following initial credentialing, a Focused Professional Practice Evaluation (FPPE) is often necessary to maintain privileging. In POCUS, this typically involves a minimum number of scans over a two-year period that undergo review for quality. Peachtree POCUS can conduct ongoing quality assurance to ensure the maintenance of POCUS privileges.
New Provider Credentialing
As new providers join, they will require credentialing in POCUS. Peachtree POCUS will assist in the credentialing process for new providers, which may involve reviewing previous training and conducting remote image reviews to ensure compliance with the POCUS credentialing policy.
Troubleshooting
POCUS necessitates a close relationship with IT, biomed, EMR, and ultrasound vendors. Technical issues and breakdowns are inevitable. Peachtree POCUS will collaborate with these departments as necessary to troubleshoot any issues that arise.
Insurance Denials
Peachtree POCUS will collaborate with your billing department to appeal insurance denials.
Interdepartmental Relations
As POCUS is relatively new in medicine, some physicians or departments may not fully understand its indications and limitations. Primary care doctors whose patients receive a POCUS during an Emergency Department visit may not comprehend that it was not a comprehensive ultrasound. When adverse patient outcomes occur in patients who received a POCUS, leadership and quality review committees may question the purpose and safety of POCUS. Peachtree POCUS acts as an unbiased expert consultant to bridge these communication gaps and resolve POCUS-related issues.
Accreditation Visits
In the event of a visit from an accrediting organization such as The Joint Commission resulting in citations related to POCUS, Peachtree POCUS can address those citations to ensure compliance.
Annual Course for Providers
As part of the maintenance package, an annual POCUS course will be offered to your providers. You can choose from an existing course, or Peachtree POCUS can tailor a course to your needs. The annual course can serve as a refresher for basic applications or to learn new applications relevant to your specialty.
Annual Comprehensive Review of the POCUS Program
As part of the maintenance package, Peachtree POCUS will conduct a comprehensive review of the POCUS program. Similar to the initial POCUS consultation, Peachtree POCUS will evaluate the state of the ultrasound machines and all software to ensure they are functioning properly and recommend updates as needed. Peachtree POCUS will also review existing POCUS policies to ensure they are up to date with all current recommendations. Additionally, Peachtree POCUS will survey providers on their use of POCUS, identify any perceived barriers, and address them accordingly in collaboration with you and your providers.
