Our global consultation offers a comprehensive assessment of the current state of POCUS in your department, along with actionable recommendations. The consultation encompasses the following aspects:
Level of Provider POCUS Education
Peachtree POCUS will evaluate the level of provider POCUS competency and recommend additional courses as necessary. These courses will be tailored to your provider needs and the specific POCUS exams required for your patient population.
State of the Ultrasound Machines
Our assessment will evaluate the functionality of your current ultrasound machines, including image quality, ease of use, exam presets, necessary measurements, and other POCUS functions. We will also assess the number of machines, types of machines, and their locations within the department or workspace. Based on our findings, we will make recommendations regarding potential replacements, the need for additional machines, and specific models we recommend.
POCUS Workflow
The POCUS workflow encompasses the ordering of exams, performance, image archiving, coding, and billing. It's imperative that the workflow is efficient, streamlined, and devoid of unnecessary barriers. We will assess the current POCUS workflow and make recommendations for improvement, including suggestions for purchasing archiving software to enhance efficiency and compliance with reimbursement requirements.
POCUS Documentation
Proper documentation is crucial for both reimbursement and patient care. Peachtree POCUS will review your current POCUS documentation and provide recommendations for improvement to meet documentation requirements. We'll also suggest methods for more efficient provider documentation and offer structured reports for every exam type that can be seamlessly integrated into the EMR.
Reimbursement
The American Medical Association's coding guideline changes in 2023 impacted documentation requirements for Evaluation and Management (E/M) levels but left procedural billing, including POCUS, largely unchanged. POCUS reimbursement still requires structured procedure reports and representative saved images. On occasion, there may be higher reimbursement by incorporating it into the Medical Decision Making (MDM). Peachtree POCUS will review your current billing practices and offer recommendations to maximize reimbursement, including assistance in setting up a billing program if you're not currently billing for POCUS.
Quality Assurance and POCUS Safety Initiatives
Quality Assurance (QA) and POCUS safety are integral to a successful program. Peachtree POCUS will review your current safety policies and procedures, including infection control measures, to ensure compliance with the standard of care. We'll also provide infection control and other safety policies as needed and offer suggestions for streamlining QA processes, including remote image review.
Unique Circumstances
Every institution has unique aspects that may not be covered by standard consultation elements. Peachtree POCUS offers tailored consultations to address your unique circumstances, whether it's coordination with other departments, multi-specialty clinics, or specific considerations for academic settings. We'll work with you to maximize POCUS utilization based on your practice's individual needs.
